Its mission is "to save the last unprotected wildlands in the Southern Rockies, and to preserve and restore native biodiversity through advocacy, education, and legal action."

The Rio Grande Decision Support System is "a water management system being developed by the Colorado Water Conservation Board and Colorado Division of Water Resources to assist in making informed decisions regarding historic and future use of the Rio Grande basin."
7 Friends of the Dunes
Friends of the Dunes, Inc. was founded in 1989 "to provide a forum for citizen involvement at Great Sand Dunes National Monument & Preserve," located in nearby Mosca, Colorado.

The Backcountry Skiers Alliances (BSA) represents the interests of human-powered winter backcountry users, including skiers, snowshoe-ers, and snowboarders. The BSA has SLVEC's support in its current effort to create non-motorized winter recreation areas on Wolf Creek Pass.
10 Rio Grande Water Conservation District
Created in 1967 to represent the San Luis Valley in litigation concerning the Rio Grande Compact. "The Rio Grande Water Conservation District is the leading entity in improved total water management in the San Luis Valley with a goal of efficiency and good water conservation efforts. Our mission, therefore, is 'to enhance and protect the water rights of the citizens in the San Luis Valley who reside within the boundaries of the District.'"
